What is the purpose of a boat rental deposit?

The deposit you are required to pay on a yacht charter is a guarantee for the charter company, but also a financial commitment on your part to ensure compliance with the charter contract, in order to cover any potential damage to the boat. This is systematically required for yacht charters without a skipper, unlike yacht charters with a skipper, which may be exempt. You must pay this deposit just before you take possession of your boat.

This concept exists elsewhere, for example when you rent a house or a car, and the aim is the same: to protect the owner from any damage caused by the renter.

If you don't pay the amount due, this can be considered as a cancellation of the boat rental on your part, and the payment will be maintained, as finding another renter in the meantime may prove complex, which will penalize the rental company.

Once you've chosen your boat, there are several stages in the charter process:

we sign the contract, the safety regulations and the inventory;
we ask you to pay the amount of the boat rental plus the deposit by bank loan. We advise you to check with your bank that the deposit will be paid;
we advise you on the best spots to discover;
we take charge of the boat, carry out pre-departure checks and accompany you to the harbor exit.

We do not accept checks or other equipment (bikes, cars, lodgings, jewelry, etc.) as security deposits.

In the event of damage on return, we retain the deposit but do not cash it until the repair bill has been sent. In the interests of transparency and understanding, we will send you the invoice to inform you of the breakdown of the deposit, so as not to put you in difficulty and give you time to replenish your account.

You can also take advantage of the bond redemption insurance system to be reimbursed for the amount debited from the site caute to the damage incurred.

If the repair bill exceeds the amount of the deposit, we cannot take more than the agreed deposit.
